About Tricia Salt

ADHD Coach

I decided to become an ADHD coach after returning to the world of work from studying as a mature student. As an artist at Uni, I'd had support that helped me to talk through my thoughts, make plans for my workload, and co-work with likeminded contemporaries. Back in a regular job, I felt I was drifting back to approaches that didn't work, many of which had led to burnout, frustration and quitting in the past.

At first, I sought ADHD coach training because I thought it might be nice to offer the kind of support I'd had to others. But I didn't realise how special and different coaching is until I experienced it for myself. It not only unearths the practical steps that will move someone forward with specific challenges, but also explores the limiting beliefs and coping mechanisms that can grow in neurodivergent people operating in a neurotypical world.

Training as an ADHD coach showed me that there are ways of working with the multidirectional qualities of our brains that can help in all spheres of life. When we recognise these, we can communicate and coordinate our experiences, needs, boundaries and processes with others. â€‹

I've always loved supporting people, whether volunteering with mental health charities or leading workshops that uncover inner creativity. And what I most love about ADHD coaching is how every client brings their uniquely different qualities to uncovering uniquely "them" solutions. I provide a structure, and they find their answers.

To uphold my part of the coaching process I engage in continuous professional development, including coaching supervision and ongoing training. I adhere to strict guidelines in confidentiality and ethics, all of which we'll discuss and agree before the coaching process begins.

ADHD Coaching

A coach is a "thinking partner", someone who shares productive, forward-focused conversations with you.
This might include anything from talking through how you organise your time to going in-depth on a specific instance of rejection sensitivity. ADHD manifests differently for everybody, so everything is led by you and your individual experience.

My coaching, based on the ADHD Works Executive Functioning Framework, forms a supportive scaffold, encouraging you in finding practical solutions to the challenges that ADHD brings whilst celebrating and working with your strengths. Our conversations give you a chance to identify and talk out issues such as motivation, distraction, impulsivity, problem solving, planning, and emotional sensitivity, and to set achievable goals, with clear pathways to reaching them. As someone with ADHD myself, I am uniquely positioned to offer understanding and empathy alongside this support.

Unlike other coaching, ADHD coaching operates through a neurodivergent lens, informed by the science, experience and emotional impact of ADHD. As well as supporting you, it can inform you about the latest research and available support.
